Fiber Connections
Leverett Arts and Crafts Center
June 1 through June 28, 2023, Leverett MA
Sally Dillon’s painted portraits of her ancestors on vintage lace capture the feel of times past. Martha Robinson plays with contrasts of shape, color, light, in her wall quilts, and modern vs. traditional techniques in her 3D work. Rebecca Fricke captures the large landscapes of Lake Champlain, in the form of small abstract quilt squares embellished with hand stitching. Barbara Kline creates pieced contemporary cotton quilts and story collages with silk appliqué. Nancy Young’s fanciful birds were collaged from torn magazine images. She also prints images of her landscape paintings onto silk and adds stitching. Flo Rosenstock uses sculptural felting techniques to create mushroom and fungus forms. Margaret Stancer creates quilts with resist-dyed fabrics and felted vessels and reversible fabric bowls. Eileen Travis’s yarn crocheted interactive and inspirational pieces are inspired by nature. Martha May’s work includes unique sculptural crochet pieces along with some contemporary tapestries.
